Inversions of the Colossus (2010)

RJD2 (born Ramble John "RJ" Krohn on May 27, 1976) is an American music producer, singer and musician. RJD2 was born in Eugene, Oregon, and raised in Columbus, Ohio. He currently resides in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was signed to the Definitive Jux label where he released two largely instrumental hip hop albums and has produced tracks for many prominent rappers. However, he has now left Def Jux and has signed with XL Recordings.^[1] His 2007 album, The Third Hand, is a striking departure from his usual style and features RJD2 singing and playing instruments on nearly every track.

In 2009, RJD2 established his own label, RJ’s Electrical Connections and reissued three early records as well as a box set. RJD2’s new full length The Colossus was released on January 19, 2010 on his new label, which is distributed by The Orchard.

"In 1969, the imaginative indie record producer, and jazz-lover, Mark Sutton, who owned his own recording studio in Soho, gathered together some of the finest session jazz musicians working in London together with husband and wife, Dev and Sitara Kumar to record a series of what we might today call "fusion". The result was "Curried Jazz". The producers for the sessions were the great Ken Barnes (find out more about him at the excellent Vinyl Vulture site)and Michael Hall .Victor Graham composed,arranged and conducted the pieces."

J.Rawls. "The Crystal Liquid Project 2" (2008)

Known in the independent rap world for his production skills, J. Rawls has worked with everyone from Masta Ace, The Beastie Boys, Wordsworth, Black Star and J Sands (who he works with as one half of Ohio’s underground hip-hop group Lone Catalysts). With his earliest recollection of hip-hop from movies such as ”Wild Style” and ”Beat Street” and influenced by Madlib, Pete Rock and Jay Dee he has always produced and made music he has loved. In 2001 he released his solo debut called ”The Essence of J. Rawls”. He has released two more albums since, ”The Essence of Soul” in 2005 and ”The Liquid Crystal Project” in 2006.
